Essentially, we make a strong tea and simmer to reduce the liquid, enhancing the strength of the tea. We add honey and our special healing thyme syrup is ready! Thyme is a very powerful healing herb! Thyme Syrup
There are so many herbal syrups that we can make now before winter, ideally to have a well-rounded herbal medicine chest. Stay tuned for more ideas to come soon!
Whether it's thyme or oregano or sage or garlic or ginger or .. well the sky's the limit! Do you see how this simple recipe template can open up the entire world of home-crafted herbal remedies!
THYME SYRUP
Ingredients
- Thyme small bunch of fresh leaves (I don't measure but this would be approximately 2 tablespoon fresh or 2 teaspoon dried)
- 1 cup Water good quality pure water
- ½ Honey raw, local if possible
- Ginger root optional 3-5 slices of root
- ½ Lemon optional, organic if possible
Instructions

In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil.

Remove from heat, add thyme and cover with a lid.

If using ginger root and/or lemon, add to the simmering liquid.

Simmer for 10-15 minutes

Remove from the heat.

When the liquid has cooled slightly, strain out the ‘solids'and reserve the tea.

Pour ½ cup of raw honey into the jar and add to the ‘tea’.

Stir to incorporate.

Breathe in that glorious healing aroma!

Cap the jar and label.
Recipe Notes
Store in the fridge. Use within 2 months.

How much of this syrup do you use and how often?

Hi Karen. I tend to use the syrup as needed, one teaspoon at a time.
It will depend upon the situation. 3-4 x daily normally.
