We certainly know all about how important it is to include fresh in-season fruits in our daily meals ~ We hear "Eat your fruit", for all kinds of reasons.
Research has now given us another reason to 'up' our fruit intake.
Recent studies have determined that certain foods can be effective pain relievers. CHERRIES top the list with the ability to be better than aspirin at relieving inflammation!
Here's a list of 8 of the top Pain Relieving foods:
1. Cherries
2.Blackberries
3. Raspberries
4. Blueberries
5. Strawberries
6. Celery (and Celery Seed)
7. Ginger
8. Turmeric
In herbal medicine, traditionally, for centuries, we have used Celery seed traditionally to help relieve symptoms of Gout, the so-called "disease of the rich" (as it used to be known). Gout is caused by the build up of 'uric acid', a waste product of urine. Often, folks battle episodes (or attacks) of Gout when consuming excess purine-containing foods; especially meats and alcohol. Many find that Celery seed helps with both chronic and acute Gout issues. (No medical advice; just sharing info!)
I have been writing a lot about Ginger and Turmeric and the striking results found regarding inflammation.
It's this latest verdict re FRUIT is that is important to share;
so, whether it's fruit salad, fruit smoothies or cooling fruit soups; let's make an effort to EAT MORE FRUIT!
Local fruits, in season, organic when possible and OFTEN!
