Want to darken your hair? Why not try these ancient ideas for herbal hair care? Here are two recipes, which are long established remedies for healthy hair.
Rosemary & Thyme & Sage ~~ All of these herbs have a long tradition for the promotion of healthy scalp and keeping hair silky n' soft. As a brunette myself, I've made this for many years. I hope you'll try this!
It's easy!
HERBAL HAIR RINSE with Rosemary + Thyme
• 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves or 1⁄2 tablespoon dried
• 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves or 1⁄2 tablespoon dried
• 2 cups boiling water
Place herbs in a glass bowl and pour boiling water over them. Allow leaves to steep until cool. Strain liquid and pour into a clean container.
After shampooing, pour the rinse over your hair. Do not rinse off!
I recently learned that my all time love affair with sage tea as a sore throat remedy, has yet ANOTHER use! Did you know that essentially the same thing -- sage infused in hot water, darkens brunette hair and can actually cover 'grey'?
SAGE HERBAL HAIR RINSE
2 cups water
¼ cup fresh or dried sage leaves
Just boil water and pour over sage leaves. I use a glass canning jar with a lid.
It's easy and is happy with boiling water!
Let mixture cool and then strain out the sage leaves before using.
Use as a hair rinse that day or store in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Pour over freshly shampooed hair as a final rinse. Do not rinse off.
and.... do you know the perfect idea from me to you?? Make the tea as above. Make lots.
Rinse with some and drink the rest!
Your body will thank you !

Thank you for these wonderful recipes! One question: Would it be okay to combine these two recipes? A quarter cup sage with a tablespoon each of rosemary and thyme? Or do they interact pourly if infused together?
Carol Little
Yes, combine them and see how you like the result! I encourage you to play with your herbs!!
