Give the gift of RELAXATION ~ Here are 3 quick ideas for a last minute gift or two or 10! Hey ~ these are good for YOU too. Treat yourself in a quiet moment!
They are more of a guideline than recipe as you may want to add your own favourite scents to personalize the project! Check out the bonus ideas too!
Oatmeal Milk Bath
4 parts Epsom Salts
2 parts Sea Salt
1 part Oatmeal, ground to a fine powder
optional: 1 part non-fat powdered milk
Grind the oatmeal in a coffee grinder or food processor with a 3-4 drops of essential oils.
Combine the ingredients and package in a festive container or glass jar.
I have used ye ol' canning jar for this project. Adorn with a colourful ribbon or get more artistic and decorate the jar too. This is a quick project but the resulting bath is soothing and much appreciated!
The gift of relaxation !
From a recent post on 'self-care' here's another herb-infused project. DIY Bath Crystals with herbs! Click here to see.
Here's another favourite. I use Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap with dead sea salt and almond oil.You can use whatever you have on hand or whatever is available to you!
Cleansing Salt Glow
1 cup salt
1 cup oil
1 cup liquid soap (like this one here)
Mix the ingredients and package in a glass jar.
Add 5 drops of essential oil of your choice or skip the scent (especially if this is a gift for someone who will be spending time wanting to avoid mosquitoes! etc)
To use:
Massage into your skin while in the shower. Rinse.
Decadent! This is like a super quick SPA treatment.
Skin feels super soft afterwards.
Salt or Sugar "scrubs" are amongst the easiest + most satisfying DIY spa products.
They were very popular when I operated my 'physical' version of Studio Botanica in Toronto's west end. The sky's the limit with these scrubs.
Use essential oils or herbs to create special personalized blends. This next one is a simple version to illustrate the process. I've made it with LIME essential oil and lime juice, with ORANGE essential oil, with delightful restful combinations or exhilarating enlivening oils to really help 'perk up' in the shower!
This can be a foot scrub, too. Perhaps use a coarser salt for best results!
Botanical Salt Scrub (promotes meditation + deep relaxation)
1 cup Dead Sea salt
1 cup oil Almond oil
4-5 drops Basil essential oil
optional: 3 basils leaves, dried, crumbled into mixture.
optional: 2-3 drops Lavender essential oil
Mix well to combine and package in a glass jar.
When I start writing about making 'spa treats' ~ I can't stop.
Sharing some more faves from my shop. These recipes are from a workshop I used to teach. (memories!!)
