I've made cauliflower rice many times over the last couple of years. I love that it is so versatile and open to new flavour additions. This aromatic version featuring flavours from North Africa ~ in this case, I used "7 Spices" which may just be your next new favourite herb/spice combination! Here's hoping you enjoy this aromatic cauliflower rice dish and make it soon for your family!
It's an easy recipe and comes together quickly. It's almost like a template for any of your own personal preferences ~ any fresh herb from the garden may also be added for additional yum factor.
Anyone who favours the 'food combining' principles of combining veggies together can avoid the classic 'meat and potatoes', or rice and protein together 'faux pas' and can really make some delicious meals with aromatic cauliflower rice and either protein or other veggies.
Aromatic Cauliflower Rice ! Try it!
Aromatic Cauliflower Rice
Ingredients
- 1 cauliflower organic when possible
- 2 tablespoon coconut oil or avocado oil
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1-2 garlic cloves minced
- 1-4 tablespoons herbs your preference
- sea salt + freshly ground black pepper
- Optional: 1 tablespoon Coconut Aminos
Instructions
-
Core the cauliflower and cut the cauliflower into 'flowerettes'.
-
Place a few chunks of cauliflower into the food processor.
-
Process until the chunks become 'rice - like'
-
Dump the small cauliflower rice pieces into an adjacent bowl
-
Continue to pulverize the cauliflower into 'rice' until the entire cauliflower is 'riced'.
-
Add the oil to a pan add medium heat.
-
Chop the onion and add to the pan
-
Saute for a few minutes until onion is soft and lightly golden
-
Add the garlic and stir thoroughly until well mixed
-
Add the cauliflower rice and mix well. I love using my wooden spoons.
-
Sprinkle the mixture with your choice of fresh herb or herbal blend.
-
Mix well. Season.
-
Add the coconut aminos if using. It does add an salty element to the dish so don't overdo it.
-
It's ready to eat now.
Recipe Notes
I normally use some immediately and refrigerate the rest for later in the week.
I've started to make the dish above as a sort of template. Here's the version I made last week. If your family likes these ingredients, use this recipe. NO? Just change out my choices and add your own.
I love the combination from North Africa, in this case, Lebanon, called 7 Spices. It goes so well with cinnamon, so I added a little to increase the fragrance and taste! Here's a post about this very fragrant blend of herbs/spices and a few variations!
